Mackenzie guides clients through every stage of an online attack, from evidence preservation and strategy to demand letters, platform escalations and court proceedings. She has secured the removal of thousands of pieces of content from social media platforms, search engines, news outlets, review sites, adult websites and file-hosting services worldwide. Her work regularly persuades publishers to act, including network-affiliate television stations and other news organizations that have removed coverage of clients’ dismissed and expunged charges.

Mackenzie has particular depth in adult content and nonconsensual intimate image matters, having represented dozens of performers, creators and survivors of image-based abuse. Drawing on her background in intellectual property, she negotiates copyright assignments and takedown agreements with studios, producers and photographers, giving clients ownership of their content and the authority to remove it wherever it appears. She combines that leverage with large-scale DMCA enforcement, search engine de-indexing, facial recognition monitoring and escalation to hosting providers in the United States and abroad.

Mackenzie also represents plaintiffs in defamation litigation in state courts across the country, including actions against anonymous defendants. Her litigation experience includes drafting complaints, obtaining orders that allow clients to proceed under a pseudonym, and leading subpoena practice directed at social media platforms, apps, domain registrars and internet service providers to identify those responsible for online attacks.

Mackenzie joined Minc Law as a law clerk and spent two years working on defamation and privacy matters before becoming an attorney. She earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she was a Justice Story Intellectual Property Law Fellow and Executive Notes Editor of the Journal of International Law, and worked in the First Amendment Clinic and the Intellectual Property Venture Clinic. She also holds an M.A. in Art History from Case Western Reserve University and a B.A., summa cum laude, from The College of Wooster.

Outside the office, Mackenzie enjoys exploring Cleveland, visiting art museums and taking in the city’s cultural scene.
